The Stranger 2006 - 150 dozen made
was made by Colin Sheppard at Murray St vineyards in Greenock. The
Shiraz was purchased from a vineyard on Gomersal Rd in the Barossa while the Cabernet came from
Moculta. The blend is 62% Shiraz & 38% Cabernet.
The fruit was open fermented and basket pressed. The Shiraz is matured in American Oak, while the Cabernet is matured in French, both for 15 months. The wine is unfiltered and unfined and benefits from decanting.
Tasting Notes -
Deep & dark with a crimson rim that hangs in the glass. The nose is a complex mix of red fruits and dark berries with an almost floral lift. The palate is
milk chocolate, dark berries with a nice touch of oak in the background. The
soft mouth filling tannins add to the long finish. The Stranger will stick
around for at least the next 10 years. |
