FiFiona is very much a jack of all trades at Flaxman. From managing the website, bookwork, and marketing in the office to lending a hand in the vineyard and winery, she supports the business wherever she’s needed. One of Fiona’s favourite roles is welcoming guests—whether hosting tastings at the Cellar Door or creating memorable long, leisurely lunches overlooking the vineyard. She looks forward to sharing Flaxman’s wines, story, and warm hospitality with every visitor.

The Flaxman journey began with an unexpected leap of faith. In March 2004, during a six-week vintage, Colin made the bold decision to purchase a vineyard— without discussing it with his wife Fiona. Three months later, they traded city life in Melbourne for the rolling hills of the Flaxman Valley in the Barossa. It marked the beginning of new careers, a new home, and an entirely new chapter of life.
The vineyard, planted as early as 1929, is home to Riesling, Shiraz, and Semillon, with additional fruit sourced from the Eden Valley and Barossa. Colin leads all aspects of wine production, hands-on at every stage to ensure each wine truly reflects its place and vintage.
Drawing on his background as a builder, Colin also designed and built Flaxman’s welcoming cellar door and alfresco dining space. Here, guests can relax with thoughtfully prepared food and wines while overlooking the vineyard that brings it all to life.
The Flaxman team warmly invites you to visit the Cellar Door and Winery for tastings from Thursday to Saturday, with Sundays available by appointment. Due to the intimate size of the cellar door, advance bookings are recommended. For those wishing to enjoy the three-course or five-course lunch experiences, we kindly ask for 72 hours’ notice.
Nestled in the stunning Flaxman Valley, just 10 minutes from Angaston and Tanunda and an hour from Adelaide, the journey is as rewarding as the destination.

When you visit the Eden Valley Winery, Either Col or Fi will be greeting you at Cellar Door to take you through a tasting or to host you for lunch.
Gus - RIP 12-08-25Gus, our Cellar Door meet-and-greet champion, joined the Flaxman team in November 2004. From that moment on, everyone who met him couldn’t help but love him. Sadly, after a brave battle with cancer, Gus is now at peace. He leaves an enormous hole in our hearts, and Flaxman feels a little emptier without his warm welcome and wagging tail. Thank you to everyone who shared in his journey – he truly was one of a kind and will always be in our hearts.
ColBuilder, winemaker, and enthusiastic cook, Colin has followed his passions and never looked back. He’s fortunate to call this stunning place both home and work, and believes that when you love what you do, work doesn’t feel like work at all. A bold leap of faith brought him here, and he’s been living the dream ever since. Drop in, say hello, and you’ll understand why he doesn’t plan on working another day in his life.
