A little Insight when visiting the Barossa

As a tourist when we were just visiting the Barossa Valley many moons ago, we loved discovering new small wine producers - if you need any recommendations for Accommodation, Cellar Doors, just ask us and we will point you in the right direction and maybe even tee you up with some unique private tastings - you are so spoilt for choice now.

It was also great to get some local input on what to do to make the best of whatever time you have here.  Whether you are here for a week, a weekend or are a day-tripper - there is so much to see and do and we would love to share with you some little hidden gems.  Please don't hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.

Arrive Friday afternoon and be welcomed by a member of the family to the luxurious J.H.A. Stone Cellar on Hutton Vale Farm. A little time to settle in and enjoy the view, before a tour across the farm countryside on your way to a special tasting of Hutton Vale Farm’s fine wines in their relaxing cellar door. Take a short trip to Angaston for a true village experience of artisan family businesses. Saturday morning is full of fresh produce at the Barossa Farmers market with up to 80 stall holders sharing what they grow and make.

Henschke will send a car with your personal host to collect you at 10:30am from your accommodation for a guided tour of the vineyard and winery, then enjoy a wine tasting in the beautiful, refurbished Cellar Door.

At 1pm you will enjoy lunch at Flaxman Wines cooked by winemaker and Masterchef top 10 finalist, Colin Sheppard consisting of seasonal produce served alongside Flaxman Wines.

In the evening you will return to the J.H.A. Stone Cellar to enjoy your farmers market fare for light supper after your long afternoon lunch. Sit and enjoy the views and fire with wine from the day.
